1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of personal data collected through caethe.com is:
- Controller
- NIVO Consultancy OÜ
Tartu mnt 16-20, 10117 Tallinn, Harju maakond, Estonia
Registry code 12094006 · VAT EE101821269 - Privacy contact
- privacy@caethe.com
Because the publisher is established in the European Union, we process personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Estonian data protection law. Readers in Canada also have rights under Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA); where that gives you a stronger right, we honour it.
2. What we collect, and why
a. The Monday Calendar (newsletter)
If you sign up, we collect your email address and nothing else: no name, postal address, date of birth or financial information. We also record when you signed up and when you confirmed, which is the evidence of consent the law asks us to keep.
- Purpose: sending the weekly newsletter you asked for.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- Double opt-in: after you submit the form we send one email asking you to confirm. If you do not confirm, nothing further is sent and the address is deleted.
- Withdrawing consent: every email has an unsubscribe link, or write to the privacy address above. It takes effect immediately and costs nothing.
b. Server logs
Our web server records technical information for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser and operating-system details. This is needed to deliver and secure the site.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- Retention: a short period for security and fault-finding, after which logs are deleted or aggregated.
c. Countdowns and calendar files
The day counts on this site are calculated on our server from the current date. They involve no personal data. The “Add dates to my calendar” button generates a standard calendar file on request; we do not store anything about who downloads it.
d. Advertising measurement
This site is promoted through paid advertising, and advertising platforms commonly offer a measurement tag that records that a visitor arrived from an advertisement.
How this site is set up: any such tag would load only after you choose “Accept all” on the cookie banner. If you choose “Essential only”, or ignore the banner, no advertising or measurement script is loaded and no advertising cookie is set. The site works the same either way and no content is withheld.
At the time of this update no advertising measurement tag is active on caethe.com. If one is added, it will work on the consent basis described above, and this section will be updated beforehand to name the provider, the data it receives and the safeguards for any transfer.
e. Campaign parameters in links
When you arrive from an advertisement, the link may carry campaign codes (for example a click or campaign identifier). We keep these in your browser’s session storage during your visit so that a newsletter sign-up can be attributed to the right campaign. They are discarded when you close the browser. We never put personal data such as your email address into a URL.
3. Cookies and browser storage
| What | Purpose | When | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent choice (local storage) | Remembers your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear | When you choose | Until you clear site data |
| Campaign codes (session storage) | Attributing a sign-up to the campaign that brought you | If you arrive from an advertisement | Until the browser closes |
| Advertising measurement | Measuring advertising performance (none active at present) | Only after “Accept all” | Per the provider’s stated term |
You can delete all of it through your browser’s settings for this site, which also brings the banner back so you can choose again.
4. Fonts, images and external content
All fonts, icons and images are served from our own server. We do not load fonts, analytics, social-media widgets, video players or advertising creative from third-party networks, so reading a page does not disclose your IP address to anyone else. Links to official sources are ordinary links; nothing is requested from those sites unless you click.
5. Who receives data
We do not sell personal data or share it for anyone else’s marketing. Your email address is disclosed only to our email delivery provider and our hosting provider, each acting as a processor under a data processing agreement, and to a public authority where the law requires it. Where a processor is outside the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep data
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe, then deleted, apart from a minimal suppression record so that we do not email you again by mistake.
- Unconfirmed sign-ups: deleted shortly after the confirmation window passes.
- Server logs: a short retention period.
- Correspondence: as long as needed to deal with the matter.
7. Your rights
You can ask for access to your data and a copy of it, correction, deletion, restriction of or objection to processing, and data portability, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@caethe.com. We reply within one month, free of charge.
8. Complaints
- Estonia (lead authority): Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, Tatari 39, 10134 Tallinn, www.aki.ee.
- Canada: you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, priv.gc.ca.
- Elsewhere in the EEA: the supervisory authority where you live.
9. Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. We never ask for sensitive information
We will never ask you, by email, telephone or on this website, for a Social Insurance Number, bank or card details, or a My Service Canada Account or CRA password. Anyone asking for these in our name is not acting for us; please report it to privacy@caethe.com.
11. Changes
If we change how we handle personal data, including switching on a measurement tag, we will update this notice and its date before the change takes effect.
